Under the auspices of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and Prof. Hussein Al-Maghraby, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, students of the university participated in a discussion seminar organized by the Coordination of Youth of Political Parties and Politicians as part of the current session of the Cairo International Book Fair, titled "Participate and Know Your Political Rights," attended by Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication.
Minister Mahmoud Fawzy conveyed several important messages to the youth, emphasizing that awareness, understanding, and knowledge are the foundations for any genuine political participation. He urged the need to verify information sources and not to be swayed by what is published on social media platforms without scrutiny.
He pointed out that political participation is not merely a virtual interaction, but a real practice that begins with knowledge of the constitution, rights, and duties, clarifying the difference between responsible freedom of expression and chaos or disrespect towards others, within the framework of respecting the law and the public good.
He also encouraged the youth to move beyond the culture of "short clips" and return to in-depth reading and building critical awareness, warning against complete reliance on artificial intelligence without engaging the mind, considering it a helpful tool but not a substitute for human thinking.
Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy affirmed the state's interest in empowering youth and integrating people with disabilities, noting the existence of political will and legislative frameworks supporting equal opportunities. He pointed out that student unions represent a true school for preparing young leaders capable of effective participation in public affairs.
The participation of students from Banha National University comes as part of the university's commitment to enhancing political and cultural awareness among its students, providing them with the opportunity to interact directly with decision-makers, contributing to the preparation of a conscious generation qualified for positive contributions to building the future of the nation.
