Benha National University has welcomed a delegation from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine’s Summer School as part of ongoing academic and cultural cooperation between Egypt and China and the University’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and engagement with higher education and research institutions worldwide.
Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, welcomed the delegation during an introductory meeting at the University, attended by Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Hazem Eliwa, Supervisor of the International Relations Sector; and Prof. Ashraf El-Mashad, Director of Programs, Faculty of Medicine. The delegation was accompanied by Prof. Jie Yudjie, its supervisor, and comprised 16 students from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine.
Prof. Tamer Samir highlighted the importance the University places on international relations as a central component of its institutional strategy. He emphasised Benha National University’s commitment to developing academic partnerships with universities worldwide and expanding student and academic exchange programmes that create opportunities for learning, collaboration and intercultural engagement.
Prof. Samir noted that hosting the Summer School delegation reflects Benha National University’s vision as a fourth-generation university, with a focus on an integrated educational experience that combines academic excellence with international engagement, particularly across medicine, health education and scientific research. He also noted that Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine is ranked among the world’s top 400 universities according to the Shanghai Ranking and is ranked first in China in the field of Chinese medicine.
The partnership also extends opportunities to Benha National University students. A number of students are scheduled to travel to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in September to participate in its Summer School programme, while outstanding students will also have the opportunity to receive scholarships to take part in educational and training programmes. These opportunities are intended to broaden students’ academic and cultural experience while providing greater exposure to international learning environments.
During the meeting, Prof. Samir heard from members of the delegation about their experience in Egypt. The visiting students expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and careful organisation of the programme, and spoke positively of the hospitality they had received and the educational and cultural experiences offered throughout their stay.
The 15-day Summer School programme runs from 4 to 18 August 2026 and brings together academic, cultural and student activities designed to encourage knowledge exchange and interaction among students from different cultural backgrounds.
The delegation continues to take part in the programme at Benha National University, with further activities and field visits scheduled to explore aspects of Egypt’s academic, cultural and historical heritage. The programme includes academic lectures, workshops, educational visits and cultural and tourism activities.
Members of the delegation expressed their enthusiasm for the remainder of the programme, highlighting its organisation and breadth of activities. They also welcomed the opportunity to engage with Benha National University students and gain first-hand insight into Egyptian culture through an experience that reflects the longstanding ties between the Egyptian and Chinese peoples.
Through this partnership, Benha National University continues to expand its engagement with universities worldwide and provide its students with international educational and training opportunities, supporting the University’s commitment to preparing graduates with the knowledge, skills and global outlook required to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
