Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, attended the reception of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, upon His Holiness’s arrival at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Obour City to deliver his weekly sermon.
During the occasion, Prof. Tamer Samir was honoured in recognition of his contributions to community engagement and his participation in community initiatives that promote citizenship, fraternity and the bonds that unite the people of Egypt.
The occasion was attended by Prof. Eng. Hossam Abdel-Fattah, Governor of Qalyubia; Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University; as well as a number of executive, security and church leaders.
The participation of the President of Benha National University, and the recognition he received, reflect the University’s commitment to fulfilling its role within the wider community and maintaining an active presence at occasions and initiatives that bring together members of Egyptian society and promote a culture of citizenship, belonging, cooperation and coexistence.
Prof. Tamer Samir affirmed that universities are an integral part of society and that their role extends beyond education and research to include raising awareness, promoting human and social values, and preparing students and young people to play a positive and active role in serving their country and community.
Prof. Tamer Samir also expressed his appreciation to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, noting that occasions that bring together national and community leaders provide an important opportunity to strengthen communication and mutual understanding, while reinforcing respect and cooperation. Such engagement contributes to the cohesion of Egyptian society and reflects the strong national and human bonds shared by its people.
