Benha National University Organises Breast Cancer Awareness Day to Promote Prevention and Early Detection

Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, third year students at the University’s Faculty of Medicine organised a breast cancer awareness day as part of October’s breast cancer awareness activities. The event aimed to raise health awareness among students and highlight the importance of early detection in identifying the disease at its earliest stages and improving the chances of successful treatment.

The event was attended by Prof. Hussein El Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ashraf El Mashad, Director of Programmes at the Faculty of Medicine, and a number of faculty members.

The programme opened with an awareness video highlighting the importance of health education in addressing breast cancer, followed by a series of educational videos demonstrating the steps involved in breast self-examination and emphasising the importance of recognising any changes that may require medical consultation.

The event also featured an interactive discussion between students and faculty members, covering key scientific facts about breast cancer and addressing common misconceptions and inaccurate information associated with the disease. The discussion aimed to correct misunderstandings and strengthen students’ health awareness.

A series of scientific sessions also explored methods of early breast cancer detection and the latest developments in treatment approaches. The sessions emphasised the importance of ongoing awareness, appropriate medical screening, and consulting specialists whenever unusual symptoms or changes are noticed.

The event concluded by highlighting the important role students can play in promoting health awareness and reinforcing the principles of prevention and health education. Students were encouraged to share awareness messages with their families and wider communities, helping to promote early detection and healthy practices.

This initiative reflects Benha National University’s commitment to supporting health awareness activities, strengthening the role of the Faculty of Medicine in promoting medical knowledge, and fostering students’ sense of responsibility towards public health issues. It also underscores the importance of health education and early detection in tackling breast cancer and improving recovery outcomes.
