Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Faculty of Energy Sciences organized its First Scientific Day under the theme “Leaders’ Talks: The Future of Energy Innovation.” The event was attended by Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Afifi, Director of Programs, Faculty of Energy Sciences, together with faculty members, teaching assistants, the Secretary-General of the University, and a distinguished group of experts and specialists in the field of energy. The event was organized as part of the Faculty’s commitment to linking academic study with practical applications and to enhancing awareness of emerging issues in the energy sector.
The Scientific Day forms part of the Faculty’s broader efforts to prepare highly qualified graduates capable of meeting the evolving demands of the labor market. It also provided an important platform for the exchange of expertise and for the development of students’ scientific and research competencies.
The program featured a series of specialized scientific sessions addressing key challenges and future opportunities in the energy sector. One session, entitled “Egyptian Oil and Gas and Global Energy Security,” highlighted the role of conventional energy resources in supporting economic growth and contributing to stability in global energy markets. Another session, “Hydrogen, Batteries, and Fuel Cells: Pathways to a Sustainable Energy Future,” explored the latest international developments in clean energy technologies.
In support of diversity and inclusion, the event also featured a session on “Women’s Empowerment in the Petroleum Sector: From Capacity Building to Leading the Future,” which underscored the vital role of women in this strategic industry. Additional sessions addressed “Advanced Materials and Redefining Safety and Sustainability in Nuclear Energy Systems” and “The Role of Geotechnics in Developing More Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Construction Materials,” highlighting innovative approaches that contribute to sustainable development in both the energy and construction sectors.
Students participating in the event expressed their appreciation for the Scientific Day, emphasizing the significant benefits they gained from the sessions, which provided them with up-to-date knowledge across diverse energy disciplines, as well as exposure to real-world experiences and inspiring success stories that broadened their perspectives and strengthened their professional aspirations.
The event concluded with a recognition ceremony honoring the speakers and participants, in an atmosphere that underscored the importance of integrating scientific research with practical application. The Scientific Day reflected the Faculty’s strategic commitment to advancing innovation and expanding collaboration with industry partners in order to prepare a generation capable of shaping the future of sustainable energy.
